Little white dress

I have been enjoying having my sewing things unpacked and in my new studio. My studio is my creative space where I can sew, write, play the piano and make things.

This week, I made this little dress for a friend’s daughter.

I know it looks like a top, but it is a dress, and when she grows to tall for the dress, she can wear it as a top.

The fabric is the softest cotton, with tiny spots.

One of the things I like about making things for people is that I think about them as I am making the item.

Sewing a gift for a baby girl

Some time ago, I wrote that I was going to sew a dress and pants for a friends baby daughter as a gift when she was born.

This is the finished outfit.

This is the back view. there are 3 little buttons to fasten at the back.

At the time, I wasn’t too sure if my friend had liked the gift, as when she opened it she said at the time, ” Oh, you made it! Not many people sew baby clothes anymore.”

Today, I received a letter in the post yesterday from my friend thanking me for the gift and telling me that her baby girl wore the dress for her first photo with Santa!

One of my girlfriends has just had a baby last week.

A little girl.

I am always filled with joy when a baby is born happy and healthy and to a loving family.

I am going to sew a little dress and pants outfit for the baby girl.

I bought some fabric last week.

I selected a delicate floral cotton print

I have never sewn baby clothes before, so this will be my first attempt.

I’m looking forward to starting this on the weekend……
