Fresher food shopping

I am endeavouring to limit my shopping at super markets.

All of the fresh meat, cheese, eggs and fruit and vegetables in the photo above were purchased at 2 shops only.

First was a visit to my fruit and vegetable shop. I can also purchase my eggs  which are free range and cheeses (fetta and ricotta for this weeks spinach pie), as well as apple juice for my attempt at bircher muesli this week. I also purchased seeds, almonds and walnuts.

Then off to the butcher for fresh steak and a large ham hock for pea and ham soup.

The only trip to the grocery shop was for milk and fresh oats, and tinned plums, yoghurt starter for making bircher muesli this week.

My total grocery spend for this week is;

Butcher $16.00

Fruit and Veg shop $72.18

Grocery shop $9.98

Total Food Spend  Week this week $98.16

  1. It’s definitely a challenge but I too hope I can make the switch over to more naturally derived foods. Good luck with everything!

  2. Hi sheelbeel, thanks for visiting! I noticed on your blog you have a recipe for quinoa. I bought some a month ago and it has been sitting in my pantry. I’ll try your recipe…
